The Port of Long Beach provides terminals, water access, roads, railways and bridges for an efficient and modern seaport complex and promotes innovative solutions for the environment. The Port aims to:
Improve efficiency of existing Port land and facilities
Promote responsible Port redevelopment that accommodates changes in trade and logistics trends
Promote and develop safe and efficient transportation systems
Utilize design guidelines and physical branding opportunities to create a more attractive Harbor District
Implement environmentally responsible solutions for local and regional infrastructure needs
Collaborate with all levels of transportation agencies to influence state and national goods movement policy
Our region's transportation system faces many challenges including high demand and insufficient roadway capacity. These infrastructure constraints pose challenges to the region's ability to handle goods through the ports in the future. Sustainable growth of the Port to benefit the region’s economy relies on well-coordinated transportation planning within the port complex and throughout the entire region.
